The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity coordinates Princeton’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and fair treatment of all members of our community. We support undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, staff and alumni, as well as outreach to the broader community. We facilitate strategic institutional change through structural tools including policies, funding, staffing, and project incubation and implementation. We manage Princeton’s efforts to prevent and respond to bias, discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct, and promote equitable access for people with disabilities. OUR INITIATIVES In addition to facilitating a wide range of policy, funding, governance and compliance issues across the University, we manage multiple programs that support the campus community. They include: Bias response: We oversee institutional response to allegations of bias, discrimination and harassment. Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity: We advise hiring managers on conducting legal searches and promotion processes and oversee the preparation of the University’s annual Affirmative Action Plans. Sexual Misconduct and Title IX: We oversee institutional response to allegations of sexual misconduct. Office of Disability Services: We oversee institutional efforts related to ADA compliance and access for students with disabilities. AccessAbility Center: We provide programming and educational events related to disability awareness for all campus community members. College Opportunity: We coordinate external partnerships and special projects to support college access and success for non-Princeton students. Princeton History and Sense of Place: We coordinate multiple campus programs designed to enhance Princeton’s inclusive understanding of its history and recognition of individuals in its diverse community. Strategic initiatives: We facilitate short- and long-term projects designed to improve campus climate and equity, including efforts such as Transgender Advisory Coalition, Digital Accessibility, and Academic Climate Committees. Learning and Professional Development: We provide web-based and in-person training on topics including fostering inclusion, unconscious bias, effective recruiting, healthy campus climate, preventing sexual harassment, and reporting obligations.
