Consistent with our values and applicable law, the University maintains a comprehensive set of policies and procedures designed to protect members of the University community from discrimination and harassment.  This includes prohibiting discrimination and harassment based on sex, gender identity, and gender expression.

Preferred name

Princeton recognizes that many students and staff prefer to use first names other than their legal ones to identify themselves.  Any student or staff member may choose to identify a preferred first name in addition to their legal name. The  preferred name will be used in the university directory, in many communications, on  rosters, and in reporting, except where the use of the legal name is required. Students and Alumni are encouraged to review the Registrar's Office Preferred Name Policy before adding a preferred name.

Gender inclusive housing

In gender-inclusive housing two or more undergraduate students may share a multiple-occupancy dorm room with no regard to the students' sex or gender. During undergraduate room draw, upperclass students may form groups with roommates of any sex or gender. Students will not be randomly assigned to gender-inclusive housing without their consent. Gender Affirming Care

University Health Services (UHS) is dedicated to providing high quality inclusive health care for undergraduate and graduate students and their dependents. Over the last several years, UHS has expanded services available for transgender and gender non-binary students to include initiation and continuation of gender affirming hormones and insurance coverage of surgeries and procedures for gender affirmation. Inclusive bathrooms

Gender inclusive bathrooms increase convenience, and sometimes safety, for individuals who are transgender or gender non-conforming; individuals who need to be assisted by a caregiver; parents with young children; and anyone who would prefer additional privacy and flexibility. All members of the campus community and visitors are welcome to use the bathrooms and changing rooms that reflect their gender identity and/or gender expression.
